If your bank account could write you a letter, what would it say?

Dear Owner,

I really do want to be in your life in a positive way. Money doesn’t grow on trees. But I know you wish it did.

You sometimes want to use me to purchase something on impulse and then immediately regret your decision wondering why you spent me and what the balance of your account is.

I am not always everything you make me out to be. In fact, I’m really nothing at all. Just a tool. You think I’m real – but, I’m not. I am only as real as you make me to be. You assign me my value, YOU!

You decide what role I play in your life. If you want me to be lax and scarce, I am quite good at that. If you want me to be supportive of your passion and plans, I promise to be there by your side, ready and able. If you decide to use me for evil in the world, then your wish is my command and I will abide.

Do you know what the real issue is? You have given me too much power. I have nothing to do with your financial circumstances, good or bad. Whatever idea you spent me on which didn’t work wasn’t my fault.

I want you to know a few things:

1. You are responsible for your choices including how you handle me

2. I will always follow your instructions, that is my promise to you.

3. You and only you can instruct me on what you need me to do for you.

I want you to see once and for all that I am not the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) of your world — that title belongs to you. You are my Chief Commanding Officer.

Just spend a little time trying to understand me and how I work and I promise that together we can change your world.

Sincerely yours,

Your Loving Bank Account.
